Sarah Allen and I have been in constant dialogue about the ever-changing events ecosystem for nearly a decade. It has been a continuous topic that threads through our friendship. Whether discussing new formats, from unconferences to hyper-scheduled to slow convening, sharing experiences of new technology or event platforms, or celebrating what we learnt from peer events, we recognise how vital learning from peers working in diverse contexts is. And inspiring.
This encouraged us to convene a network of practitioners seeking ways to expand experiences and build benefits central to strengthening participants’ abilities to reach their social change goals.
If you are an event designer, manager, producer, or enthusiast keen to share your experiences, learn about new approaches, and connect with others on a similar journey, join us. We aim to meet quarterly to learn and be inspired by one another.

Our Next Meeting
In our most recent Event Strategies session, one participant asked, “How do you create a safe space?” This sparked a valuable conversation among the group on that call.
We have realized how crucial it is to build trust with participants early in the planning stages and during the event itself. Trust fosters a sense of safety.
We will continue this conversation in our next Event Strategies community of practice session, and we welcome individuals who:
- Are eager to share their own experiences and insights on creating “safe spaces” as event strategists.
- Are currently having this discussion within their communities.
- Don’t have the answers but wish to learn from others.
March 31st for 90 minutes at 3pm UTC (check your time zone).
